Alexander the Great of Macedon

From a bust in the Louvre.  The son of Philip of Macedon, Alexander the Great was born in 356 BCE in Pella, located in the modern Greek province of Macedonia (as opposed to the independent country of Macedonia).  After conquering large stretches of the known world, Alexander died in Babylon in 323 BCE, at the age of 32.  Alexander belonged to the Argead dynasty.
