Winnowing in Afghanistan

Agriculture in Afghanistan.  Winnowing is a traditional process that separates chaff (seed coverings, straw, and the other debris loosened in the threshing process) from grain.  The threshed mixture is flung into the wind, which allows the heavier grains to fall to the earth, while the much lighter chaff is carried off on the breeze.  The Afghani economy is primarily based on agriculture (farming).
