Shahr-i-Zohok, Afghanistan

This is a view of Shahr-i-Zohok (the "Red City") in Bamyan Province, Afghanistan.  The distinctive color comes from the red clay used in construction.  The dry climate has allowed for the remarkable degree of preservation.
