TYPE OF SPANISH BLOCKHOUSE: Blockhouses similar to this were established by the Spaniards at all important points in the Island, and at definite intervals along the Trochas. They were frequently surrounded, at convenient rifle range, with a network of barbed wire, rendering them exceedingly difficult to approach.
