Homeschool Guide

What am I expected to teach?

Odds are that  you have decided to homeschool your child(ren) because you want to have control over what your children learn.  Maybe you want your religion to be  part of your child's education.  Maybe you want to guarantee that your child will excel at college.  Maybe you are dissatisfied with your local school.  Maybe all of these!

You are in charge of the homeschool learning environment.  However, there are some legal issues you must consider.

Homeschooling parents are expected to teach the same curriculum as their local district, and in most areas, this is actually the law. Additionally, your child may be expected to take standardized state proficiency tests which are based on the state curriculum. That being said, you are free to supplement the state curriculum, focus your teaching on your own personal beliefs, and devote as much time to teaching as you choose.
