This 1929 cartoon, "Finding His Voice," was created to explain the creation of sound in motion pictures.  It's quite cute and informative.  Students can learn a lot from this period film, particularly the growth of technology in the early half of the twentieth century.  Apart from the historical perspective, this film has the potential to spark kids' interest in audio-video technology.  The story is by W.E. Erpi (a pseudonym for Western Electric, Electrical Research Products, Inc.  The directors are F. Lyle Goldman and Max Fleischer.  The producer and sponsor is the Western Electric Company, Inc.  The cartoon characters are Talkie, Mutie, and Dr. Western.
