| Teaching the English language is a multi-faceted task. The alphabet and basic writing skills must be taught, which can be done with our handwriting practice worksheets. Students can start learning common English words with Fry's 300 instant sight words flash cards. Advanced vocabulary can be taught using our lists of vocabulary terms for grades 7-12, found on our ELA: English Language Arts page. While students begin writing in English, they may benefit from our writing prompts. As English language learners progress, they may want to try our free eBooks. |
| As English-as-a-second-language students progress in their studies, they should begin reading and understanding more advanced English in context, particularly if they plan to attend a university in an English-speaking country. For this, teachers are urged to look through our large assortment of worksheets, particularly those for American History and World History. These resources feature a large number of worksheets that feature a reading selection followed by recall and comprehension questions. | We offer plenty to help with listening skills, as well. Our film reviews and guides often come with lists of viewing questions and vocabulary terms. For example, students can learn verbal English language comprehension while absorbing American history and culture from watching feature films and documentaries. |
