Directions: Color each row of hearts to match the letter pattern.
A helpful color key is included for students to complete.
Take note that the color key is blank! We have designed it this way for three reasons.
First of all, it deters cheating if each student has a different color key. Using it this way, teachers or paras color the key on each individual sheet before passing them out to students.
Secondly, how many crayons are left by February? What colors? There is no point in us giving you a color key with, for example, light blue, violet, and pink, if your pupils do not have these crayon colors. Educators can do a quick crayon survey, then color the key on their "master copy" before taking it to the school printing room to make copies (if their school offers color printing).
Last of all, decades of experience have taught us that most schools don't freely offer color printing to teachers. Were we to color the key ourselves, the majority of educators would be using a lot of black copier toner to end up with a "color key" that is merely hearts filled with shades of gray.
