Kenya, located in East Africa, has diverse and striking geography that includes savannas, highlands, mountains, and coastlines. The Great Rift Valley runs north to south through the country, creating dramatic escarpments, volcanic peaks, and fertile valleys. Central and western Kenya are dominated by highlands, with Mount Kenya—the country's highest point—rising to over 5,000 meters. These highlands are among the most fertile regions and support agriculture. In contrast, the north and northeast are arid and semi-arid, featuring dry plains and deserts. Kenya’s eastern border lies along the Indian Ocean, offering sandy beaches and coral reefs. The country is also home to important lakes, such as Lake Victoria in the west and Lake Turkana in the north. This varied geography supports rich biodiversity and numerous ecosystems.
