1. What was John F. Kennedy's "New Frontier"? John F. Kennedy's "New Frontier" was the domestic agenda of his presidency, unveiled in 1961. It aimed to address challenges in civil rights, education, healthcare, and space exploration. The initiative sought to expand economic opportunity, provide federal aid for education, extend health insurance for the elderly, and ultimately set the goal of landing a man on the moon. 2. Summarize the events of the Cuban Missile Crisis. In October 1962, U.S. reconnaissance revealed Soviet nuclear missiles in Cuba. President Kennedy announced a naval blockade, demanding their removal. After thirteen tense days, Soviet Premier Khrushchev agreed to withdraw the missiles in exchange for a U.S. pledge not to invade Cuba and the secret removal of U.S. missiles from Turkey. 3. Describe the assassination of President Kennedy. President John F. Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963, while riding in a motorcade through Dallas, Texas. He was struck by two rifle bullets, suffering fatal wounds. Texas Governor John Connally was also injured.
