KWL Chart: Know, Want to Know, Learned
This chart is used over the course of a
learning exercise, individually or as a group. For
example, the students are preparing to learn about the United
States Constitution. Before beginning the unit of study,
students write what they already know (or think they know) about
the U.S. Constitution. Next, they write what they want to
know about the document. After the unit is completed,
students write what they have learned.
The investigatory and educative
implications of this graphic organizer are immense.
Students take control of the learning experience. Equally
important, students appreciate the importance of learning to
their acquisition of knowledge. |
