UNLOADING COFFEE FOR TRANSPORTATION: In spite of the destruction wrought
by the war, Cuba has many profitable industries that will serve as a
base for her future prosperity. None of these, perhaps, are more
promising than her coffee plantations, many of which being in the
interior passed through the era of disturbance comparatively unharmed.
The illustration shows the method of conveying the coffee from the
plantation to the warehouses of the merchants at Havana. (Cuba,
1898)
