Explain how and why the fashions of the 1920s exhibited the growing freedom and independence of women.

ANSWER: Answers will vary. Women earned the right to vote in 1920 with the 19th Amendment. Bobbed hair was more carefree and easier to maintain. Shorter, lighter dresses were easier to maintain, less binding, and hinted at greater sexual freedom.
