Djibouti is a small but strategically located country in the Horn of Africa, bordered by Eritrea to the north, Ethiopia to the west and south, Somalia to the southeast, and the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden to the east. Its geography is defined by dramatic and diverse landscapes, including coastal plains, volcanic plateaus, mountain ranges, and arid deserts. The country lies within the Great Rift Valley, making it geologically active, with frequent earthquakes and volcanic formations.

One of Djibouti's most striking features is Lake Assal, the lowest point in Africa and one of the saltiest bodies of water in the world. Surrounded by lava fields and salt flats, Lake Assal lies below sea level and is a key landmark in the country's unique terrain. The Danakil Desert, known for its extreme heat and dryness, occupies much of the region.

Djibouti's coastline stretches over 300 kilometers, offering access to important maritime routes. The country's port, located in the capital city, Djibouti City, is a vital hub for international trade. Despite its arid climate, with high temperatures and low rainfall, Djibouti is home to a range of ecosystems, including coral reefs and mangroves along its shores. Its geography has made it an important crossroads for both regional and global commerce.
