This delightful book, Animal Children: The Friends of the Forest and the Plain, written by Edith Brown Kirkwood and illustrated by M.T. Ross, was originally published in 1913. It features rhyming poems related to about 90 different animals from all over the world. Each poem is accompanied by an adorable illustration. (The first preschooler we showed this to stared at the picture above and could muster only, "This picture is beautiful.")
