Kansas is a major agricultural state, often called "America's Breadbasket" for its high production of wheat and other grains. The state's flat plains and fertile soil make it ideal for large-scale farming. Kansas consistently ranks among the top states in wheat production and also grows corn, soybeans, sorghum, and sunflowers. Livestock farming is another key part of the agricultural economy, especially beef cattle, with many large ranches and feedlots across the state.

In addition to agriculture, Kansas has a strong industrial base. Food processing, especially related to agricultural products like meatpacking and grain milling, is a major industry. Wichita, the largest city in Kansas, is a national hub for aircraft manufacturing and is home to major aerospace companies like Spirit AeroSystems and Textron Aviation. This has earned it the nickname "Air Capital of the World."

Kansas also has energy resources, including oil, natural gas, and wind power. Wind energy, in particular, has grown rapidly, with the state among the top producers of wind-generated electricity in the U.S.

Together, agriculture and industry form the backbone of Kansas's economy. These sectors are supported by excellent transportation networks, including railroads and highways, that help move products efficiently across the country and beyond.
