Adolf Hitler addressing the German Reichstag on December 11, 1941. Hitler is giving a speech opposing the actions of American President Franklin D. Roosevelt. On December 7, 1941, Japanese forces attacked the United States at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.  The following day (December 8, 1941), U.S. President Roosevelt asked Congress for, and received a declaration of war against, Japan.  On December 11, 1941, the United States declared war against Germany.
