Corpses at Buchenwald Concentration Camp, Germany, April, 1945. An American soldier, one of those who helped to liberate Buchenwald, is standing near a wagonload of corpses. The wagon is parked outside the Buchenwald crematorium. Between 6 and 8 million innocent civilians (Jews, Poles, Roma, and others) were murdered as part of the Nazi Holocaust during World War II.
