Votive Statue of a Babylonian King

Votive statue of a Babylonian king, about 2450 B.C. Found in southern Babylonia (now modern Iraq); now in the Louvre, Paris.

The statue is of diorite, a hard stone imported from a distance.

This illustrates the fact that Babylonia had an extensive commerce.
