According to Abrahamic religious tradition, Sarah coerced Abraham to send away Hagar and her son, Ishmael (fathered by Abraham). Hagar and Ishmael were sustained by God in the desert, and Ishmael went on to father the Arab peoples. A version of this story is also told in Islam's holy book, the Koran. Click here to enlarge.
