Who was Catherine Carey?

Catherine Carey was the daughter of Mary Boleyn (who was the sister of Anne Boleyn).

At the time of Catherine's birth, Mary Boleyn was married to Sir William Carey. However, it was rumored that King Henry VIII (Mary Boleyn's brother-in-law) was Catherine's father.

Catherine Carey had three siblings:

Henry Carey

Anne Stafford

Henry Stafford

Catherine Carey was born in 1524. Catherine Carey died on January 15, 1568.

Catherine Carey served as maid-of-honor to two of Henry VIII's wives--Anne of Cleves and Catherine Howard.

Catherine Carey married a Puritan, Sir Francis Knollys. Knollys was a Knight of the Garter.

Catherine Carey became Elizabeth I's Chief Lady of the Bedchamber. (The two were first cousins.)
