Click here to enlarge. In 1801, Coalbrookdale was a thriving industrial village in England's Ironbridge Gorge, known for its pioneering ironworks. It was a center of innovation during the Industrial Revolution, where Abraham Darby had earlier perfected smelting iron with coke. By 1801, Coalbrookdale featured blast furnaces, forges, and factories powered by steam, with a growing workforce and infrastructure. It symbolized the transformation from rural to industrial life. |
