Emperor Napoleon III of France (April 20, 1808-January 9, 1873) and the Empress Eugénie (May 5, 1826-July 11, 1920). This photograph was taken in the 1860s, and shows the costume of the period. The nephew of Napoléon Bonaparte (Napoleon I), Louis-Napoléon Bonaparte was the first President of the French Republic. Later, as Napoléon III, he ruled as emperor of the Second French Empire.
